Hop clover can mostly be found in the southern Central Europe. It grows on sand sites, gravel, forest paths, railway embankments and other embankments. Thus it is an indicator of infertile soil. Hop clover is a member of the group of therophytes and is a good fodder crop. After the blooms are pollinated by bees, the flower crowns, being bright, brown and withered, remain on the fruits and make possible their throwing away by the wind.
